Crime Branch for lie detector test on boys with Bismarque on the night of his death

Will move court for permission; names of village officials under scanner

PANJIM: Crime Branch (CB) sleuths, probing the death of priest-turned-social activist Fr Bismarque Dias will move the local court seeking a lie detector test on the two boys with whom he was last seen near the sluice gate.
Sources said the prosecution will move the plea for permission to carry out the test and this will depend on whether their parents give their consent for it.
“We want to rule out all allegations while carrying out the investigation. The boys have undergone intense questioning three times till date. They have stuck to their old version that Fr Bismarque went swimming after drinking with them and certain information needs verification,” an officer said, explaining CB’s decision to go for a polygraph test on them.
According to Old Goa police, that investigated the case before it was handed over to CB, Fr Bismarque was last spotted at 10 pm on November 5 at a bar at Tonca and later went with two boys with two cases of beer to the sluice gate.
The activist’s supporters have been demanding the duo’s thorough interrogation and lie-detector test to ascertain the exact sequence of events on November 5-6. They had even questioned Old Goa police’s irresponsible attitude towards questioning the boys despite Fr Bismarque having spent time with them before going missing.
Meanwhile, the victim’s close friend Sudip Dalvi has submitted a list of names to CB suspecting their involvement in the crime. Sources said that he has suspected about 10-12 high-profile builders and contractors of allegedly killing or plotting Fr Bismarque’s murder plan.
“In addition to these names, Dalvi also suspects the involvement of  other village officials behind the death. We will verify their roles before taking any further action,” the officer added.
Other close associates of Fr Bismarque like ‘German’ along with family members of the deceased Father Bismarque have given important inputs to the Crime Branch. Adv Jose Peter D Souza is working very closely with the family to help collate findings to help the investigation.
The fellow activist also claims he is in possession of a video wherein Fr Bismarque is seen speaking about a threat to his life. The evidence was, however, not produced before CB. “In the video, Fr Bismarque names some people from whom he faced a life threat,” the officer said quoting the witness. “We have asked for the evidence,” he said.
