MARGAO: Mohammad Sarwar Anwari, a 26-year-old Afghan national and student, succumbed to his injuries at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, (GMC) Bambolim after being involved in a scooter accident at Nuvem.

According to the Maina-Curtorim Police, Afghan national Usman Mohamed Sidai was riding a scooter with the deceased youth Anwari riding pillion, when he collided with a car driven by Girish Prabhudessai, near the signal.
The police reported that the rider was wearing a helmet, but the pillion rider was not, and sustained head injuries. Both Afghan nationals are college students and used to travel together on a scooter.
The Maina-Curtorim Police have registered an offence against Girish Prabhudessai for driving his car in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human lives.
On Saturday, PSI Praful Giri and ASI Hemant Gaude visited GMC after receiving news of Mohammad Sarwar Anwari’s death. They conducted an inquest panchanama over the dead body in the presence of two panch witnesses, students Gulam Mohammad Ansari and Barialai Nawabi.
The doctor, Anush Patil, certified the cause of death as cranio-cerebral damage consequent to blunt force impact. After the post-mortem examination, the doctor preserved the viscera of the deceased person for further analysis.
As per the request of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Anwari’s body was handed over to Hemat Ramsh Malik. The Funeral and Ambulance Services Pvt Ltd issued an acknowledgement receipt and NOC for the transport and disposal of the dead body. PSI Praful Giri is investigating the case.
