Another wasteful project being thought of in Porvorim is constructing an underpass or tunnel at the Jeevottam Mutt junction so that PDA Colony vehicles can pass through to the other side of the highway. This construction is expected to cost Rs 35 lakh and by the time it is really completed the cost will shoot up to Rs 50 lakh. The person behind this initiative is the Tourism Minister who should realize that the best solution to the problem would be to install a traffic signal at the junction. The cost of this will surely be less than Rs 35 lakh and can be implemented without disturbing any existing structures at the site.
