East Zone captain Ishan Kishan delivered a masterclass performance in the Duleep Trophy 2026 final against South Zone, turning an overnight century into a historic double hundred and cementing his team’s dominant position in the summit clash. Resuming Day 2 unbeaten on 111, the dynamic wicketkeeper-batter powered his way to a brilliant 250 before retiring hurt.
Rewriting the Record Books Kishan’s double century places him in an elite group of domestic legends. He became only the seventh batter in the history of the Duleep Trophy to score a double century in the final, joining eminent names such as Raman Lamba, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Anshuman Gaekwad, Yusuf Pathan, and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.

More significantly, Kishan became the first batter representing East Zone to achieve a double century in a Duleep Trophy final. The previous highest individual score by an East Zone player in the final was held by veteran wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha, who scored 170 against Central Zone in 2012. Kishan comfortably surpassed Saha’s benchmark, establishing the new gold standard for his region in title matches.
Wicketkeeping and Captaincy Benchmarks Kishan also broke the long-standing record for the highest individual score by a wicketkeeper in a Duleep Trophy final. That record was previously held by Dinesh Karthik, who scored 183 for South Zone against West Zone in the 2010 final. By crossing the 200-run barrier, Kishan became the first designated wicketkeeper—as well as the first captain-wicketkeeper—to achieve a double hundred in the tournament’s final match.
In doing so, Kishan also surpassed Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi’s 200-run knock from the 1967 final, rising to fourth on the all-time list of highest individual scores in Duleep Trophy finals. Only Raman Lamba (320), Yashasvi Jaiswal (265), and Cheteshwar Pujara (256*) sit ahead of him in the competition’s history.
A Unique Domestic-International Double The marathon knock adds to an already impressive personal portfolio. Kishan, who scored a memorable 210 in an One Day International (ODI) against Bangladesh in 2022, is now the only cricketer in history to possess both an ODI double century and a Duleep Trophy final double century.
