A fresh controversy has erupted surrounding the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and its chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, following reported threats by the board to boycott the second Test match of their ongoing series against England. The situation drew sharp criticism from the sons of former Pakistan captain and Prime Minister Imran Khan, while cricket legend Brian Lara issued a passionate plea regarding Khan’s health and treatment in custody.
Imran Khan’s Sons Criticize PCB’s “Tactless” Approach Speaking out against the board’s actions, Imran Khan’s sons, Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, stated that PCB leadership made “absolute fools of themselves” over the incident. The dispute reportedly stemmed from an interview conducted by former England captain Michael Atherton with Sulaiman and Kasim, which was broadcast on Sky Sports during the match at Lord’s.

Reports indicated that the PCB was unhappy with the interview airing during the tour and initially threatened to withdraw the team from taking the field. Although the broadcast was briefly delayed, the Pakistan team ultimately played the match, and both head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and captain Babar Azam later denied that any formal boycott threat was issued.
Addressing the situation, Kasim told reporters that the board’s reaction was completely unjustified. Sulaiman added that asking for an interview about an ex-Pakistan player—who spent 22 years living in England, to be taken down was overstepping the PCB’s authority. He emphasized that the interview focused strictly on humanitarian concerns regarding their father’s current health and living conditions rather than partisan politics.
