Representatives from the North and South Goa Taxi Unions recently met with officials at the Legal Metrology Bhavan to request modifications to the current taxi meter certification schedule.
Under the existing framework, testing slots are restricted to Mondays and Wednesdays, with clearances issued on Fridays. Union leaders highlighted that this rigid timetable frequently forces taxi drivers to forfeit essential working days and lose potential earnings. To resolve this, the unions demanded extended processing timelines alongside greater operational flexibility during meter testing and renewal procedures.
In response, Legal Metrology officials acknowledged the operators’ concerns, responding positively to the representation. They assured the delegation that their grievances would be carefully examined to streamline the overall certification workflow, minimize procedural delays, and significantly ease the operational difficulties currently experienced by local taxi drivers.
