It’s a riot and Zambaulim loves it!

With the palkhi of the beloved Lord Damodar, fondly called Dambaab, reaching Lord Ramnath temple, followed by aartis, the most awaited Gulalostav of Zambaulim kicked off on Tuesday. The Gulalostav this year saw a riot of colour and enjoyment
It’s a riot and Zambaulim loves it!

devotees of Lord Damodar, fondly called

Dambaab, coming together in faith and

celebration. This unique festival that took

place on Tuesday saw the palkhi of Lord

Damodar reach Lord Ramnath temple

at Zambaulim amidst a procession of

devotees. This was followed by aarti. The

Gulalostav this year saw a riot of colour

and enjoyment with a group of youngsters

playing dhol taashe and sprinkling colour

on each other.

On Tuesday, at around three in

the afternoon, gulal was sprinkled on

Dambaab and his palkhi to mark the

Gulalotsav. People of all faiths converged

at the temple of their beloved Dambaab.

Devotees from Pernem, Sattari, Mapusa

and other distant areas of Goa came down

to Zambaulim to join in the festivities.

The President of the temple

committee, Prakash Kunde, said, “We

don’t know when this utsav was first

started but all the Madgaonkaars come

here and celebrate this festival with full

fervour. Not just Madgaonkaars but the

Gulalotsav is attended by people from

Karnataka, Maharashtra and other states

as well.”

This festival is in fact the biggest

celebration of Zambaulim and the temple

and surrounding areas witness a sea of

colour.

Bhavesh Zambaulikar said, “The

Gulalotsav is a living example of unity and

love of the people of Goa. Today we have

prayed to Dambaab to keep the love and

affection between all the people going

and end all the problems and issues of

Goa and Goans in the sea of colour. We

wish the people of Goa a happy Shigmo,

success and prosperity for the year to

come.”

The celebrations of the Gulalotsav

and Shigmo of Lord Damodar ended with

Dhulpet on Tuesday
