What is PUBG?
PUBG in its full name actually means Player Unknown
Battlegrounds. Player Unknown’s
Battlegrounds (PUBG) developed in 2017 as an online multiplayer battle royal
game -only game that requires a constant connection to the internet. Each
server can include up to 99 players. At the completion of each round, players
gain in-game currency based on their performance.
In the game, up to one hundred players parachute onto an island
and scavenge for weapons and equipment to kill others while avoiding getting
killed them self. The available safe area of the game’s map decreases in size
over time, directing surviving players into tighter areas to force encounters.
The last player or team standing wins the round.
What is the game doing to us?
The World Health Organization has recognized excessive online
gaming as a disorder among humans. Several incidents have been reported where
PUBG seemed to be the prime angle of mental illness. Critics found out that
while the game had not finished fully and had some technical flaws, it
presented new types of game-play that could be easily approached by players of
any skill level and was highly re-playable. Players with such high skills on
the game could possibly even hack and obtain private information of other
players.
Another
concerned fact, is the frustration level after one loses leading to anger and
depression. This dangerous game has led many to the hospital with an unstable
mind. Most of the people playing PUBG are based in an imaginary world that has
begun affecting their lifestyle and health.
