*Global Shapers Panjim Hub* for a tree plantation drive at Bicholim!

The Global Shapers Community is a network of young people driving dialogue, action and change. Born out of the World Economic Forum, the Global Shapers Community is a network of inspiring young people under the age of 30 working together to address local, regional and global challenges. With more than 7,000 members, the Global Shapers Community spans 376 city-based hubs in 156 countries.

“So this particular idea was originally an international programme started at a place called Dhaka in Bangladesh. It won this year’s award for being the most enterprising project. Now all the Global Shapers all over the world are asked to join together and unitedly help our planet. We the Panjim Hub are doing our part,” said Ninoschka Pinto, who is part of this group.

“With all the development projects currently taking place in Goa, we need to be more environmentally conscious than ever,” adds Ninoschka.

The Global Shapers Community Panjim Hub aims at spreading awareness about the importance of trees through this event.

The plantation drive will take place on Wednesday, August 15 at the ITI Bicholim campus from 9 am to 12.30 pm.

‘This Independence Day, plant a tree, be a Treelionaire,’ is the event’s theme.

It is to be noted that the Global Shaper’s Dhaka Hub refers to this citizen-led plantation as Treelionaire. “Doesn’t matter wherever you are, just plant a tree, take a picture, make a post here and inspire others to join the cause. Let’s do it today. Let’s collectively plant a trillion trees,” reads their message.
