7 accused get 5-day police custody in Anjuna assault case

MAPUSA: The seven accused booked for assaulting a saw mill operator at Anjuna last week, have been further remanded to five days police custody while the woman booked in the case has been sent to judicial custody. 

   It may be recalled that last Wednesday, Anjuna Police had arrested 8 persons for allegedly assaulting a saw mill operator, his son, brother and two mill workers at Chivar, Anjuna. Manilal Ravji Patel, his son Bharat Manilal Patel, brother Dayalal Rauji Patel and two mill employees were allegedly assaulted by nine persons including a minor with bamboo and wooden sticks. 

This incident was captured on CCTV camera installed at the mill. Manilal who sustained severe head injuries is still in critical condition while his son Bharat Manilal Patel underwent a brain operation on Wednesday night at a private hospital while others too sustained injuries. 

The incident had occurred with regards to the purchase of wooden railings. 

The eight accused include Antonio D'Souza, Allan D'Souza, Fabier Honar, Suresh Pukar, Jovin Rodrigues, Shervet D'Souza, Azar Shaikh and Imran Khan.
