PANJIM: It’s been over a decade that around 1,500-2000 retired government employees from various departments are yet to receive their two years reimbursement as a result of sudden decline for retirement age from 60 to 58 years.

Speaking to Herald, All Goa Government Retired Employees’ Association (AGGREA) secretary Pundalik Naik said, “As the retirement age was lowered by two years, we were forced to take retirement after which the government promised us reimbursement. But soon the age limit was again increased to 60 years and then again the government promised us again that we shall be reinstated and whatever loss suffered during those two years shall be given to us.”

“Till today we have not received any kind of reimbursement, we have been meeting government officials as well as the chief ministers for a long time now but nothing is done yet. Five months ago, we had met former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar but nothing happened as he told us that the file is with finance secretary,” Naik said.

However, the association has called for a meeting on May 1 to decide the future course of action if the government fails to provide the retired employees with reimbursement.
