PANJIM: Ahead of the wedding and the new tourism season, the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has doubled the fees for erection of new temporary seasonal structures and for granting permissions for beach wedding. 

As per new fees, the GCZMA will charge Rs 1,000 per sq meter for new shacks as against the existing rate of Rs 500 per sq mtrs, while Rs 500 per sqmtrs for huts and cottages, for which currently Rs 100 per sq mtrs is charged. 

The Authority will now charge Rs one lakh per day as fees towards granting permission for beach wedding or events as against the against fees of Rs 50,000 per day. 

The authority, has however granted 75 per cent concession to educational institutions and 50 per cent to the events of government or any other non profit organisation.

The authority has also increased the fees for construction of new hotels. An amount of Rs 1,000 per sq meter of built up area would be charged as against the existing fee of Rs 500 per sq meter built up area. 

In a relief to common man, the Authority has kept fees unchanged for repair and renovation (Rs 15,000) and reconstruction existing houses or structures (Rs 25,000) and for granting permission for construction of new houses or structures (Rs 50,000). 

Also, the fees for granting permission for construction of wooden jetty or floating jetty are also kept same at Rs one lakh and so also for temporary jetties- Rs two lakhs. 

However, the authority has decided to impose Rs 50,000 fee for undertaking repair of jetties. Till date, no fees were charged for the repair works.
