Churchill denies having taken Delhi Police cover to visit demolished Little Flower Church

MARGAO: Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao on Tuesday charged that the act of demolition of Little Flower Church at Delhi as a pure attack on the minorities that is a Catholic community in Delhi. He also denied that there was police protection when he visited the demolished Church site. 

Briefing the media along with Valanka Alemao he said that his visit to Delhi has exposed the facts which the local government is trying to hide. Churchill in the presence of media phoned the Parish Priest of Little Flower Church and tried to prove that there was no police protection at the time of his visit. 

Churchill said that he has urged the NCP leader Sharad Pawar to intervene in the matter and seek justice for the Catholic community of Delhi. 

"I have seen the notice put up by the BDO on the walls of Church about the demolition. According to my knowledge, the BDO definitely comes under the local government. When inquired with the Priest and parishioners it has been informed that not a single MLA had come to visit the Church after demolition. However, now I have been informed that two MLAs had visited the Church, after me", he stated. 

He charged that how come the local authorities acted without the knowledge of the government and Chief Minister? Why it took 16 years to demolish the Church? Why not the other religious structures, nearby to Church area has been demolished?

Churchill said few are trying to misguide the people and engaged in doing false propaganda with regard to his visit to the Church site.  

“Few in Goa, like a mushroom in the rainy season misguiding the people without having the factual knowledge. My visit to Delhi was concern towards the Catholic community who are disturbed and hurt due to Church demolition", he stated.
