ACDIL school in Porvorim has traffic woes

Citizen Srinivas Kamat, Alto St. Cruz

There was a report in the newspapers that the ACDIL school in Porvorim is finding the traffic on the service road in front of it having been thrown open to regular traffic a hazard to its students.

The management of the school has been asking for speed breakers on both sides of the school gates on this particular road. In the interim, however, what the school can do is interact with the traffic police and stop the traffic at times when the school starts and gets over like between 7.30-8.30 am and 12.30-02.30 pm or as appropriate. The police can easily do this by putting temporary traffic barriers at the Dept. of Education entry side to the service road and also on the Azad Bhawan side. The barriers can be so adjusted that two-wheelers can pass through allowing the schoolchildren's parents to drop their wards at the school gates.
