This was the garbage condition on Monday evening (February 13, 2017) on Colva beach in-front of the fisheries area. This is a consistent situation from time to time on the Beach stretch from Colva to Varca even in this tourist season.

The beach cleaning contract, according to media reports, was cancelled due to some irregularities, and reportedly handed over to the Dristi company which looks after the lifeguards on the beaches.

Everyone appears to be giving the excuse of the Election Code currently in force in the State due to the pending Assembly poll results, which are expected on March 11. Does this code apply to the garbage removal?

Or is it just to pull wool into the eyes of the citizens who are deprived of enjoying a decent walk on the beach? The concerned authorities should take urgent action on this.
