A huge crack has developed on the pillar supporting the gate to the Municipal Children Park (Parque Infantil) in Vasco as seen in the photograph. The dilapidated pillar threatens to come down any moment. It seems that the municipal authorities have made a stop-gap arrangement by tying a metal wire around the pillar to hold it together.

Several children visit the park every day along with their parents and the cracked pillar poses danger to these children and the public in general. The pillar also poses danger to the pedestrians walking on the pavement along the Swatantra Path.

The civic authorities need to repair this broken pillar on a war footing since in its present condition it can prove disastrous. No action has been taken in this regard till Friday evening.
