SBI credit card holders beware of on line hacking. I had received a series of SMSs and emails on June 6, 2017 evening saying that  seven transactions of Rs 26,000 each have been made to GOOGLE *Octro Inc and five transactions of Rs 13,700 each have been made to GOOGLE *Droid hen and also a transaction of Rs 50 to GOOGLE *SERVICES. This amounted to a total of Rs. 250,550.

I have not made any of these transactions and only received SMS saying the amount has been spent, no CVV or OTP was asked or shared. 

SBI Card helpline was immediately informed to block the credit card and register a complaint. As advised by the SBI card helpline the local Maina Curtorim Police station at Margao Goa was approached to lodge a Cyber crime complaint about the fraudulent use of my SBI credit card.

Surprisingly, the Maina Curtorim Police station staff were not aware about the notification of reporting of Cyber crime at the local Police station. It was only after meeting the staff at Cyber crime branch Ribandar and informing the Maina Curtorim Police station of the notification did they accept the complaint. Maina Curtorim Police station staff have not asked to file any FIR only an inward acknowledgement of the written complain. Copy of which has later been handed over to Ribandar Branch of Cyber crime. 

When contacted the SBI Branch at Margao stated that this was not within their purview and advised to contact SBI card representative at Panjim. It is very surprising that the SBI does not accept any such complaints at the branches of the Bank and considers the SBI card as a separate entity by itself. 

SBI credit card helpline had advised to fill in and send a manually signed copy of a Transaction dispute form which was immediately done. In spite of this, the disputed amount still appeared in the SBI card June account statement. On approaching SBI Margao they advised to pay only the actual transaction done by me which appears in the account statement and ignore the disputed amount.SBI card representative in Panjim Goa also advised the same. According to the automated email and SMS replies the complaint has been registered and investigation is in progress. 

The security of the SBI credit card is certainly questionable and SBI credit card and users are in danger of falling victim to this kind of fraud. There have been similar cases recently reported to SBI card regarding unauthorised transactions at GOOGLE *Octro Inc for Rs 26,000, at GOOGLE *Droid hen for Rs 13,700 and at GOOGLE *SERVICES for Rs 50. Also there should be more support from SBI Bank authorities and local Police authorities should be better equipped to handle such complaints.
