VASCO: A tree which is posing danger to the commuters who pass through the Zuari Bridge is yet to be cleared.

Traffic police informed that a letter to all the concerned authorities has been sent asking for quick action, but the dangerous tree still stands tall.

Traffic Police of Vasco, who are regulating the traffic moving through the Zuari Bridge, has faced trouble of traffic congestion recently due to an incident of tree uprooting on the narrow road.

In that incident, a couple who were on the bike sustained minor injuries and later the tree was cleared by fire safety personnel of Verna Fire Station.

Similarly, a tall tree next to Maruti Temple at the end of Zuari Bridge is posing danger to the commuters. A traffic police on the condition of anonymity informed that recently somebody put fire at the roots of these trees and the fire is still alive inside roots. This makes the tree more vulnerable to uproot.

After seeing this, we tied this tree with rope to another tree to avoid any danger. But it is best to clear this tree before any untoward incidence occur.

When Herald contacted Traffic PI Vasco Suraj Samant, he said that as per my information the tree poses danger to the commuters.  In case it falls on someone or on the road, there will be a traffic jam. Someone’s life also can be in danger, therefore, the tree needs to be cleared.

He further said that Traffic Cell Vasco has given intimation to all concerned authorities about this issue and expect that soon action will be initiated on it.
