PANJIM: Congress continued to take pot-shots at the BJP-led government's failure to restore water supply in Tiswadi and Ponda taluka stating that they are ready to offer 'mineral water bottles' to Union Minister Amit Shah during his visit to Panjim on Thursday.

Shah will be chairing the 24th meeting of West Zone Council in a hotel at Dona Paula, which will be attended by Chief Ministers of Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra and administrators of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

Congress Goa president Girish Chodankar through a tweet offered to supply mineral water bottles to Shah claiming that the tap in his hotel room will also be dry.

“On behalf of thirsty people of Tiswadi and Ponda Taluka including capital city who are dying to see their taps run for last  7 days, INC Goa won’t mind providing mineral water bottles to Amit Shah during his visit tomorrow as I am sure the taps in his hotel room will also be dry,” Chodankar tweeted on Wednesday.

Tiswadi and Ponda talukas are reeling under a serious water crisis since August 15 after the landslide at Curti-Khandepar, caused a breakdown of the major 900 mm dia DI and 750 mm dia CI pipelines, supplying water to these talukas.

Congress has already demanded that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant resigns for failing to handle the situation.
