PANJIM: Crime Branch sleuths rescued two women from Uttar Pradesh busting yet another prostitution racket on Wednesday.
The raiding team also arrested a 30-year-old Anita Karapurkar from Chimbel, accused of operating the illicit business in and around KTC bus stand at Mapusa.
Accordingly a trap was laid at a hotel in Mapusa wherein Karapurkar was apprehended and the two women were rescued. The accused woman has been booked under section 370 A (3) IPC and sections 4, 5 and 7 of ITP Act.
This is the second raid that took place this week with the last raid on June 20 leading to the rescue of a Punjabi woman and the arrest of a 26-year-old Maharashtra native.
Meanwhile, in a separate raid on Wednesday, the Crime Branch team cracked down on matka activities at Cortalim. A person accepting bets was caught red handed and arrested. The team has seized Rs 11,150 and marks chits from his possession.
