MARGAO: Davorlim and Dicarpale Communidade on Tuesday urged the South Goa District Collector for reforms in election procedure for Communidades.

In the letter to District Collector Camilo Barretto, President of Davorlim Communidade and Attorney of Dicarpale Communidade stated that there is gross violation of the code of communidade and needs to be looked into.

"It has been observed that persons have been contesting various posts in the Comunidades even though their names do not appear on the Able List. This is a gross violation of the code of comunidades. The aspirant should be made to produce their five shares of the comunidades before the concerned Presiding officers during the election process," he stated.

Camilo further said he has also observed that voters in the communidade elections do not carry any sort of identity card and share certificate. Thus, it should be made mandatory for the voters, failing which they should be debarred from casting their votes.
