PANJIM: EDM promoter Shailesh Shetty, currently on bail in a rave party case, was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly conspiring in the murder of Torda resident Vilas Methar on October 14.

Porvorim Police arrested Shetty under Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code. Shetty’s car was found in Sindhudurg when two accused – Vishwajit Dabolkar and Pawan Bhadigar – had escaped to the neighbouring district soon after the incident.

They were later arrested by the Sindhudurg Police and handed over to Porvorim Police along with the car.

The Porvorim police team is investigating whether the car registered in Shetty’s name was knowingly given to the two accused. “We are investigating every aspect of the case. There was certain evidence pointing at Shetty after which he was placed under arrest. Further investigation is underway,” a police source said.

Shetty was among several persons arrested in an illegal rave party held at Anjuna in mid-August. He was accused of co-hosting the party along with a Bollywood actor and others where drugs were consumed. All were bailed out even as investigation is ongoing.

In the Methar murder case, Shetty is the seventh person arrested. Six accused are undergoing custodial interrogation. Methar had been killed by being set ablaze.
