PANJIM: A mild or asymptomatic patient under home isolation will now stand discharged and end isolation after ten days, unlike 17 days earlier, have passed from onset of symptoms and has no fever for three days.

The Directorate of Health Services (DHS) in a revised guideline issued on Friday, following new set of rules issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, also said that the home isolation patient need not test again after home isolation period is over.

“Subsequent to the revised guidelines from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, patient under home isolation will stand discharged and end isolation after at least ten days have passed from onset of symptoms or from the date of sampling for asymptomatic cases and no fever for three days,” DHS director Dr Jose D’Sa said.

The Union Ministry in the revised guidelines issued earlier last week, had reduced the homes isolation period to ten days and also exempt from testing after the home isolation period is over.

On an average, 2000 asymptomatic patients opt for home isolation every day in Goa. On Thursday, 2905 were placed under home isolation.

The State government has already directed village panchayats and municipal councils to monitor the patient under home isolation to ensure that isolation period is strictly followed and that the patient gets all required help in form of medical aids and other requirements.
