Goa Dairy suffered losses of Rs 6 crore: Chairman

It may be recalled that two months back during the extraordinary meeting, Goa Dairy Chairman Rajesh Faldesai had claimed that Goa Dairy had suffered a loss of Rs 14 crore.

PONDA: Goa Dairy Chairman Rajesh Faldesai on Friday disclosed the Dairy suffered a loss of Rs 6 crore for the financial year 2021-22 and held former administrators responsible for it. 

During the Annual General Body Meeting held at Co-operative Bhavan Curti, Ponda, various issues related to the affairs of Dairy were discussed and heated discussions prevailed.

Speaking to mediapersons post AGM, Faldesai said, “Goa Dairy suffered a loss of Rs 6 crore for financial year 2021-22.” He reiterated that the losses suffered by the Dairy are during the tenure of administrators appointed by the government and added that he would conduct an inquiry.

It may be recalled that two months back during the extraordinary meeting, Faldesai had claimed that Goa Dairy had suffered a loss of Rs 14 crore. 

When mediapersons questioned how in two months’ the deficit of Rs 8 crore arise in the Goa Dairy loss, Faldesai said, “This difference of Rs 8 crore includes dues to Goa Dairy from the stakeholders including marketing agents and are not actual losses.”

He said, “Even though the Goa Dairy was in loss the then administrators distributed dividend to farmers despite the remark by auditors.” 

Further, he said that he would make all effort to bring Goa Dairy on the path of profit with the backing of Board of Directors.
