PANJIM: With the Crime Branch filing a closure report into the death of 19-year-old Siddhi Naik, the deceased’s family has accused the Goa Police of being in connivance with the accused. The family has demanded that the murder case should be reinvestigated by special officers.

The Crime Branch has filed a closure report in the case after failing to find evidence to substantiate the murder claim.

Addressing a press conference, Siddhi’s father Sandeep Naik alleged that Crime Branch officials and Calangute Police are in connivance with the accused and hence trying to shield him. Naik said both Lady PSI Pragati Malik attached to Calangute Police Station and DySP Crime Branch Raju Raut Desai, are aware of the entire incident and who killed Siddhi.

“Entire Calangute Police Station staff is aware of who the killer is. They are in connivance with the accused. I charge that Calangute Police killed my daughter,” Naik said.

He questioned how it is possible that even after a year of the incident, police are unable to trace the accused or get any lead in the case. “I am not going to keep quiet and won’t let the police close the case. We want that the entire case to be reinvestigated with special officers,” Naik demanded.

Siddhi, who had gone missing, was found dead on Calangute beach on August 12, 2021, and the incident rocked the entire State. Police had registered a murder case in January, this year. Police examined all 53 persons in the matter.
