Goa gets first forensic sciences varsity worldwide

The National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) is the first and only forensic sciences university in the world, according to a statement issued by the Department of Information and Publicity on the eve of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s arrival.

Dr J M Vyas is the founder Vice-Chancellor of this the university.

The statement adds, “On the special occasion of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and ‘60 years of Goa Liberation’, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has started the branch of National Forensic Sciences University in Goa. This campus will help prevent, reduce and detect crime through forensic science and allied subjects. Many issues related to law and order can be resolved expeditiously and satisfactorily, thereby speeding up the justice delivery system. The University has established a new campus with an aim of imparting professional forensic education, research and development, consultancy, training in the areas of forensic science and allied subjects.”

The University has started four courses from the current academic year at the Goa campus which covers five-year BSc-MSc Forensic Science, three courses of two years – MSc Forensic Science, MSc Digital Forensics and Information Security, and MSc Cyber Security.
