PANJIM: With 547 new cases, Goa saw its second-highest single-day spike of COVID-19 on Saturday, along with three deaths even as the Chief Minister said that the non-adhering to social distancing norms during Ganesh Chaturthi was the reason for the spike.

The three dead were a 70-year-old man from Bicholim, admitted at Goa Medical College Bambolim,  with co-morbid conditions who expired on Friday, a 30-year-old man from Old Goa also admitted at GMC with co-morbid conditions who expired on Saturday and a 68-year-old man from Fatorda, admitted at ESI hospital with co-morbid conditions who expired on Saturday.

The confirmed cases are 16,553 while active cases are 3646. There were 433 recoveries on Saturday which took the total recoveries to 12,729. Total 178 people have lost their lives.
