Margao: Goencho Ekvott in a letter submitted to Wilfred D'sa Nuvem MLA have requested him to call off the proposed meeting with the Collector over the land acquisition for railway double tracking. They reiterated their stand to oppose the double-tracking and coal transportation through Goa. 

A meeting was scheduled on September 22 with the District Collector to discuss the land acquisition issues. 

Goencho Ekvott said they want the government to scrap the proposed land acquisition for double-tracking and coal transportation through the villages and state of Goa.

Goencho Ekvott thanked the Nuvem MLA for attending their awareness program at Majorda even after the authorities had cancelled the same and thanked him for assuring them to go ahead with the program in the open air and took an active part in the program till the end. 

Goencho Ekvott also wrote that they wholeheartedly reject the very idea of land acquisition and the proposed discussion with the Collector on this  aspect because any talk about land acquisition is tantamount to accepting the transportation of coal through their villages. 

"Our sole objective is to Oppose double tracking and coal transportation through Goa and we will do all that is required to fight alongside the people of Goa to scrap the very idea of coal passing through Goa, as it is meant only to profit the crony capitalists and with absolutely no benefit being accrued to the State of Goa. And we are convinced that you as our MLA will stand by us and oppose the very idea of coal transportation," said  Goencho Ekvott.
