MAPUSA: If arresting accused drug kingpins is like climbing a hill top, the crack anti-Narco wing managed to do climb that hill at least in the case of John Stephen D’Souza (Steve).
Amidst, generous sprinklings of drama and action, the JMFC court Mapusa granted two days transit remand to Steve D’Souza, the owner of Hilltop, who is arrested by Hyderabad Police for his alleged involvement in a major NDPS case filed by the Narco cops of the Hyderabad police.
Medical reports produced stated that Steve was fit to travel.
After the Court granted transit remand to the accused on the condition to travel by air, Steve fell unconscious and was taken to district hospital in an ambulance. Steve has to be produced before Hyderabad JMFC Court on Saturday.
Following the arrest, on Wednesday, the police had moved to the Mapusa JMFC to obtain a transit remand of the alleged accused to take him to Hyderabad, however during medical examination the doctor said the accused was medically unfit to travel and was admitted at the North Goa District hospital.
JMFC Mapusa then adjourned the hearing for Thursday and sought a report on the status of the accused’s medical condition.
On Thursday, the JMFC Mapusa allowed Hyderabad Police to take D’Souza to Hyderabad (only by air) due to health condition. The court has granted two days transit remand on the basis of medical report which states that he is fit to travel. Court has also asked the Hyderabad Police to produce D’Souza before the JMFC court Hyderabad after two days and has also asked the Hyderabad Police to share a copy of FIR with the lawyer representing Steve on his request.
The Osmania University Police had registered a case under Section 8 (C) read with 22(C), 27 of the NDPS Act after they bust an inter-State narcotic racket.
