PANJIM: The arrest of Sunburn Klassique EDM promoter Shailesh Shetty has invited criticism from Porvorim’s Independent MLA and his friend Rohan Khaunte. The legislator on social media alleged that the government is deliberately resorting to ‘stifle’ his voice by falsely framing his acquaintances in cases.
“Targeting my friends and my constituency is happening since the day I came out of the Government. The allegations directed at me by targeting a personal friend for years certainly reeks of another feeble attempt to put down my voice against corruption,” Khaunte said on his Twitter handle.
The arrest of Shetty in an alleged rave party at Anjuna had also seen indirect bid being made to drag the local MLA into the case. Khaunte, while claiming he has nothing to deny or hide, said he has been most vocal on the drug party raid ‘despite the fact that efforts were made to involve me and my acquaintances even though having no involvement.’
The MLA further wrote, “The BJP lead (led) by Dr Corruption is feeling cornered everyday by my proven accusations for which they have no answers. Frustrated, they are stooping to such cheap levels of harming even an entire constituency to seek petty political vendetta against me. Political battles are waged with the ballot not by disturbing the life of citizens,” he said.
