With the issue of CCTV's of Margao town still unresolved between the Traffic cell, MMC & Collcetorate the same has cast shadow over the installation of CCTV Cameras in Fatorda. Though the Margao CCTV doesn't have bearing on the Fatorda CCTV project the authorities have made a mention of the guidelines mandating the beneficiary to maintain the system.

The MMC has however claimed that the system has still not been handed over to the MMC after its commissioning. MMC is the beneficiary of the CCTV  system of Margao and claim that the maintenance is hampered, since it doesn’t have control. Fatroda may face the same issue as it is also governed by the MMC.

The District Collector in her brief reminded the guidelines of the MPLAD fund works before the present Fatorda CCTV project is funded. The District Collector was after this reminded by the MMC that they are yet to be handed over to them. The MMC has given willingness to maintain but there is no file movement on this front from the Collectorate.

The S-Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar too while informing about the MPLAD Projects said that it is the responsibility of the local body in consultation of the police or either of both to maintain the same.

There are at least 34 CCTV cameras in Margao which have completely gone off for long time now and it is being informed that MMC is the only Municipality which has not done a Annual Maintenance contract for the CCTV's. While authorities claim that there is a agreement over the maintenance expenses of the CCTV's in Margao the issue will take longer for resolution.

While the the TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai has been on record and decided to make compulsion of Close Circuit Television System for Residential Buildings mandatory the Margao town now is on its own as there is not one CCTV that is working now. When asked the DySP traffic told "CCTV's are necessary for all practical purposes and have to be up back working soon" he said.

The Chairperson of MMC Babita Prabhudesai told Herald "The CCTV system can be maintained by the MMC but Collectorate has to hand it over to us first" she told.
