Margoa Sounding Board

Why is there no uninterrupted power in Margao?

Every morning Margao residents wake up to a powercut continuously for the last five days. Every day the power trips at 4am in the morning and the Power Department attends to the problem by 6am. Morning joggers, early risers and those who travel long distance for work are badly affected in the morning. Some chapels have even moved outside for an outdoor mass service for daily mass goers because of the darkness and loom by the power department. People hope the government will intervene and correct this situation immediately.

So hot at Madgaon Station

The Madgaon railway station, which serves thousands of commuters daily, has been announced for beautification and upgrade in many railway budgets but nothing has been ever done to it. Commuters taking their families on holidays today told us how the railway station is so hot and the entire station of three platforms has just six wall fans. Could the KRC do something about the comfort of travellers? Just six wall fans in an entire 500 metres stretch is an insult when KRC wants more land to double track.

BSNL broadband’s one way calls

Recently many posts on social media tell us how the BSNL Margao office with contact number 0832-2737373 to report broadband connectivity problems has nobody picking calls on the other end or people in Margao are redirected to call on 0832-2725002 (Broadband Section) which never finds any response. Madganvkars are forced to call BSNL’s General Manager at Panjim on 0832-2437500 and report connectivity issues. Even worse the line is often snapped by sewerage works at Comba and Khareband cable laying and there is no respite on Internet issues.

Broken signages at Ravindra Bhavan

Margao’s Ravindra bhavan is in a shambles and there’s no doubt about that. But now the Keep Left, No parking signboards or One way traffic signages around the Margao Ravindra Bhavan are all ripped and actually have holes in them made by miscreants. We hope the RTO, Traffic Cell and MMC or the Ravindra Bhavan Committee will please fix these immediately.

Overflowing man hole

What looks like a fountain in the fields of Khareband besides the River Sal is actually an overflowing manhole of sewage with all the sewage then going into the River Sal. Remembering Manohar Parrikar’s Mission Salcete and River Sal, our plea is that the MMC and the Navelim Panchayat along with the Goa Sewerage Department need to fix this overflowing manhole.
