PANJIM: Panaji MLA Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate on Tuesday said that one of the candidates finalised by him to contest Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) elections will be changed.
Confirming the news Monserrate said, “ We are taking this decision considering all the factors particularly win ability factor.”
When asked about the ward which he will change candidate, Monserrate refused to divulge any details. The candidate will be from the ward which falls in Panaji Assembly segment, he said.
“Changing candidates before process of filing nominations starts is not new. It has happened in the last three elections when I declared my panel a month before elections dates were announced and I had changed candidates,” Monserrate said.
Monserrate however said, his son Rohit is a voter of CCP and his name is registered in ward 4. He is contesting from ward 3 since ward 4 is reserved for women candidates.
