PANJIM: A majority of people who arrived on domestic flights and trains on Monday have opted for home quarantine and not TrueNAT testing.

Health Secretary Nila Mohanan, in her daily media briefing, said that till evening two of 13 scheduled flights had arrived. “While 10 were cancelled, one flight would arrive later in the evening,” she stated.

Amongst the flight passengers, she said 26 out of 63, opted for TrueNAT screening while rest gave a declaration and went for home quarantine. “All 26 samples tested negative for COVID-19,” she added.

Mohanan further said that nine passengers also disembarked from the Rajdhani Express. “Out of 9, six opted for home quarantine and three went for TrueNAT testing,” she disclosed.

Asked where the flights had originated, she said that two were from Delhi and one from Bangalore. “There was confusion at many airports regarding the SOPs of different States and hence many flights got delayed and as such I cannot answer why 10 flights to Goa were cancelled,” she said, replying to a query.

Asked whether any tourists were identified from the flyers, she said, the government has clearly told tourists not to come to Goa if they have no residence here as hotels are not allowed to open.

Mohanan also said that foreign arrivals, including seafarers will now be in paid quarantine for just seven days. “The paid quarantine as per MHA guidelines for foreign passengers will be only seven days and seven days of home quarantine,” she said.

Revenue Secretary Sanjay Kumar said that so far 27 Shramik trains have left Goa since April 29.
