PANJIM: The Cabinet on Wednesday granted ex-post facto approval and cleared a bill of Rs 3.89 crore of an event management company hired for the event presented during the visit of the President of India to mark 60th year celebration of Goa’s liberation.

However, the Vasco-based event management company had to pay a penalty for the technical glitch that occurred during the screening of a documentary on Goa’s liberation when one of the LED lights burst.

The government has deducted Rs 5.50 lakh as a penalty for the technical failure during presentation of the cultural programme held at Campal-Panjim on December 19 last year.

The Cabinet in all approved a bill of over Rs 5.57 crore towards the programmes organised and the expenditure incurred for the celebration of the inaugural of the 60th year of Goa’s liberation programmes.

The government had approved the financial bid of the event management company, which had quoted over Rs 3.95 crore. After the event it submitted a bill of Rs 3,95,20,044 but the government decided to deduct Rs 5.50 lakh from the bill as a penalty for the technical fault when one of the LED lights burst.

The works related to 60th year celebration of Goa’s liberation were executed through the Department of Information and Publicity, which was appointed as the nodal department. 

The Cabinet also approved a proposal to transfer 15,807 square metres of land belonging to PWD and situated at Sirvoi in Quepem taluka to the Agriculture Department for establishment of agriculture processing unit.
