PANJIM: Political analyst Trajano D'Mello on Wednesday filed a miscellaneous application in the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Panjim seeking direction to Panjim Police Station to register an FIR against the Bagkiya Construction, Managing Director of Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL), PWD Chief Engineer, CCP Mayor and CCP Commissioner for allegedly acting in a gross and criminal negligence, which resulted in death of a 21-year-old boy from Ribandar on January 1, this year.
Trajano has also sought directions to Panjim Police Station Police Inspector and North Goa Superintendent of Police to immediately conduct independent, fair and proper investigation in the complaint filed on January 5, 2024 and February 15, 2024.
Trajano has also urged the Court to monitor the investigation and direct the police officials to timely produce the progress report of the investigation before it.
The political analyst had on January 5, 2024, filed a complaint at the Panjim Police Station demanding to register an FIR against the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), IPSCDL and the contractor for criminal negligence and causing death of Ayush, son of former CCP councillors Rupesh Halankar and Arati Halankar.
Trajano has alleged that the death of Ayush Halankar from Ribandar on January 1, was solely on account of criminal negligence on the part of the contractor and the officials associated with Imagine Panaji Smart City work, which has been carried out in most shabby manner and in gross dereliction of requirement of law and so also in complete disregard to the necessary safety precautions which are required to be taken whilst carrying out such work.
