MARGAO: Seraulim villagers have come forward to support the demand of the Benaulim village that the stretch of Western Bypass through the village is build on stilts. They added that all the villages, be it Verna or Benaulim have the River Sal passing through it and so village boundaries are not relevant. Serualim and neighbouring villages of Benaulim will be hugely affected if Benaulim gets flooded as locals have to cross Benaulim to go to work and students for their respective educational institutions.

Reportedly, earlier, the villagers of Seraulim too were demanding that the Western Bypass portion that passes through Seraulim be built on stilts. While their demand was met the villagers demanded that the Western Bypass be built on stilts in Benaulim too.

The Seraulim locals also criticise the manner in which the Western Bypass has been built presently up to the wholesale fish market area in Mungul and pointed out that small water bodies like ponds have been destroyed. They further raised concerns about the quality of materials being used to fill up the pond and low-lying areas that collect water during the rainfall.

Furthermore, they said the place where the Western Bypass ends, near the wholesale fish market, is already becoming an accident zone. They claim that either a roundabout should have been built there or the construction of stilts should start from there.
