PANJIM: The Goa government from Wednesday started seeking suggestions from the people of Goa on the controversial Goa Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill via the Goa online portal.

Suggestions can be submitted in detail with word limit of a maximum of 5000 words. Citizens can also upload maximum 5 MB size supporting documents, if any. The link for submitting the suggestions is https://goaonline.gov.in.

Incidentally, the portal mentions the name of the Bill as Bhumi Adhikarini Bill and not the Goa Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill following an announcement by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant that the word Bhumiputra will be omitted and that the Bill will be reintroduced in the Legislative Assembly.

The Chief Minister had also appealed to the people to submit their suggestions which will be incorporated in the Bill.

The opposition members have slammed the Chief Minister for renaming the bill without withdrawing in toto the controversial Bill in the House.
