Two domestic maids booked for theft of Rs 70,000

Police said that Geeta, who lives in a rented room in Curtorim used to work as a maidservant in the house of the complainant.

MARGAO: The Maina Curtorim police have registered an offence against two domestic maids for allegedly stealing a sum of Rs 70,000 from a house at Maina. 

Police said that based on the complaint lodged by Maria Sequeira, an offence under Sections 381 and 506( ii) of the IPC, for committing theft of cash and threatening the complainant, has been registered against the two women. 

Police said that Geeta, who lives in a rented room in Curtorim used to work as a maidservant in the house of the complainant. Police said that Geeta sent her sister to the complainant's house to complete the housework, and she allegedly stole Rs 70,000 cash, which was kept in a box in the house. 

After a few days, the complainant realised that the cash was missing from the house, and she began making enquiries. Her suspicions were raised when Geeta stopped coming to work, police said.
