PANJIM: This state infrastructure is expected to be enhanced considerably following the proposal to build new roads and bridges.

During this financial year, the CM proposed the completion of the new Mandovi Bridge, the Amona-Virdi Bridge, Tambudki Bridge at Arpora-Baga and the Grade Separator at Dabolim, Phase-II of Goa Dental College, State Health Training Institute at Mapusa, Primary Health Centers at Cansaulim, Cacora and Tuem and Cottage Hospital at Chicalim, Kala Bhavan at Sancoale.    

In order to take the concept of preventive maintenance further, the CM proposes to initiate an institutionalised mechanism and take two priority sectors of Health and Education and see that all public assets in these sectors are taken up through a well thought of mechanism and an adequate provision has been for this during this financial year.

The Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkariji had sanctioned projects for the National Highway in the State of Goa. The state also proposes the construction of district roads as well as internal roads, with an aim to construct good quality roads for each and every locality with proper design, slope, and side drainages for surface run off. The work of Khandepar Bridge costing Rs 297 crore, 4 laning of Dhavli Bypass costing Rs 61.38 crore, missing link of NH 4A costing Rs 184.05 crore, Margao Western Bypass costing to Rs 298.33 crore, Canacona Bypass with Talpona and Galajibag bridges costing Rs 280.16 crore funded by Central Government are already under execution and will be completed by 2020. 

The work for the new Zuari Bridge is presently under execution and is in full swing with the work of approaches on both the sides costing Rs 1402 crore. The projects of 4-laning of NH-4 A and NH-17 including two packages on NH 17 from Patradevi to Bambolim, and the work of road safety audit costing Rs 260 crore which is funded by Central government will be executed during the current year. The work of Ribandar bypass road which is taken up as a “Model Corridor Project” costing Rs 125.55 crore will be completed by December 2017.
