A story building Collapsed in Delhi, 2 died and others injured

The two-storey building collapsed claiming the lives of two and critically injuring one in the Welcome area in northeast Delhi early Thursday. After the building collapsed the two employees of a jeans factory died while another was injured.

All three employees of the jeans factory were working on the ground floor of the two-storey building, informed officials. Police officials informed that they received a call at around 2:16 am informing about the devastating situation, of a two-storey, old construction building.

Giving details officials informed that, while the first floor was vacant, the ground floor was being used for cutting jeans. Moreover, three workers who were trapped under the debris were taken out and rushed to GTB hospital, where two of them were declared dead.

The deceased were identified as Arshad (30) and Tauhid (20). Another injured Rehan (22) is undergoing treatment at GTB hospital.

 Meanwhile, Delhi Fire Service (DFS) station officer, said four vehicles of the fire brigade were deployed for the rescue operation. When they reached the spot, they saw a building had collapsed and people were trapped. Later the rescue operation started where three people were rescued and sent to hospital," he said.

Dignitaries and officials from the area said "We don't want to do politics over the incident. But people have died and so action must be taken against those responsible for it."

Police said the owner of the building has been identified as Shahid. Efforts are underway to trace him. Legal action will also be taken in the matter, they added.
