Mandrem Police Arrests Russian National for Illegal Stay

Mandrem police have apprehended a Russian national for unlawfully residing in Goa. According to Senior Deputy Superintendent of Police (SDPO) Pernem, Jivba Dalvi, on March 13, 2024, an FIR was filed against the accused individual, Ivan Marutiants, son of Micheal, aged 34 years, a Russian national.


Marutiants was discovered to be residing without valid travel documents at c/o H. No. 9(1) B, Deulwada, Arambol, Pernem, Goa, despite lacking the necessary authorization to do so under the Foreigners Act of 1946. An FIR has been registered under sections 7(1) (3) of the Foreigners Order 1948 and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act 1946 in connection with this incident.


Following the registration of the FIR, the accused was taken into custody by law enforcement and is presently under police supervision. The investigation into the matter is ongoing, with Police Inspector Sheriff Jackies leading the inquiry under the guidance of SDPO Pernem Jivba Dalvi and Superintendent of Police North, Akshat Kaushal, IPS.
