Third arrest made by SIT in connection with land grabbing

The Special Investigation Team's (SIT) ongoing probe of land grab saw yet another arrest, this time of a government official. 

Dhiresh Naik, a record attendant with the Department of Archaeology was arrested this morning, SP Nidhin Valsan told Herald.  

While Naik's colleague Shivanand Madkaikar is currently undergoing questioning even as his detention or arrest is not confirmed so far. 

Naik is accused of sharing official documents pertaining to properties of Goan owners with the scam's kingpin Mohd Suhail Shafi. 

With Shafi, a native of Karnataka already in police custody it is learnt that both the accused will be interrogated together. 

Vikrant Shetty was the first arrest in the mega scam which was exposed by Herald and continues to unearth more such cases 

The government formed SIT thereafter directing all cases to be probed under this team.
