In response to the barricade demolished by the Cuncolim Municipal Council wherein an illegal activity of fish processing was taking place, the Cuncolim residents have raised a concerning issue of the well that is left open which could be dangerous. The concerned locals demand that the well be covered up to avoid anyone falling into the well.

On Thursday, locals of Cuncolim raised this concerning issue stating that more than a month has passed by and the authorities have not taken any strict action in covering up this well. Locals had urged the South Goa District Collector about it but a reply was received.

Residents of Cuncolim celebrated the victory after the Municipal Tribunal upheld the Cuncolim Municipal Council's order to demolish barricades around an illegal well dug by a fish processing industry. Since the barricades around the well have been razed down, the residents had requested the municipality to cover up the well and ensure the area is secured to avert any mishap. But even after a month, the condition of the area has not changed a bit. The debris of the barricade wall was still lying there.

Locals pointed out that nearby there is a grazing area where cattle and other animals come to graze. Not only animals but even a few locals and the workers working here travel a lot. They have no clue that a well exists here. During nighttime, there are no street lights here and the entire area is in darkness. There is a high possibility that a living being might end up losing its life by falling into the well.

To avoid such mishaps at the well in the absence of barricades in future, Cuncolim locals requested the government to fill up the well as soon as possible.
