Residents, particularly women, in the Askawada area of Harmal, Mandre Panchayat, are grappling with severe water scarcity, intensifying their struggles during the scorching month of April. Frustrated by the ongoing shortage, aggrieved women from the village have voiced their discontent, highlighting the dire need for immediate solutions.

Expressing their grievances, the women have submitted a memorandum to the Water Supply Department, shedding light on the distressing situation they endure daily. Copies of the memorandum have also been submitted to local MLA Jeet Arolkar and Sarpanch Prashant Naik, drawing attention to the urgent measures required to address the crisis.

Over 50 women from Askawada submitted the memorandum to officials at the Porvorim Water Supply Department. Their concerns revolve around suspicions that the water pressure might be intentionally reduced, exacerbating the scarcity issue. The memorandum cites a consistent pattern of reduced pressure dating back to February, implicating Nandu Asolkar, an employee of the Water Supply Department, for the alleged negligence.

Demanding immediate action, the villagers have urged the Water Supply Department to investigate the matter thoroughly. They emphasize the need for adequate measures to ensure uninterrupted water supply, especially in the coming months. Additionally, they call for safeguards to prevent employees from succumbing to external pressures that may compromise the distribution system.
