The voting for ward no. 9 at the Saunta Vaddo Booth, in Calangute Panchayat, took place on Thursday. The Village Panchayat election for the ward was suspended on August 10 due to a mismatch between the names of candidates and symbols, on the ballot paper. Though the turnout was slow in the morning, candidates are hopeful that the voter turnout will increase later in the day. With Raksha Bandhan celebrations, taking place on Thursday some candidates fear voter turnout will be less. The State Election Commission has declared August 11 as a public holiday for ward no 9. Voters.
