Goa Pro League to start on December 6

PANJIM: The Goa Professional League is set to commence on December 6 with a total of 80matches to be played by the eleven teams. The top six teams will contest for the Super Cup Championship Trophy and the bottom six will fight to stave off relegation which will be the fate of the team that comes last. This was revealed on Wednesday during a press conference.

The new management revealed that Cam group of companies would be the title sponsors.

The broadcasters for the league are Fancode and Jetway wifi will be the official Internet service provider. The winner of the league will be awarded Rs 5 lakhs and the runner up Rs 2 lakhs.

GFA President Caitano Fernandes said the start to the league was delayed but a decision was taken to go ahead with it.  

Speaking about the debt of the association, a member of the committee said it was a fact which could not be whisked away but it was important now to look to the future. The amount of Rs 35 lakhs paid by the title sponsor was the highest ever and the company Fancode was giving each team a login and they would be providing statistics about each match and the clips would be emailed to each team to help them improve.

With regards to match fixing, the AIFF, acting on a letter written by the GFA, was sending an integrity officer. He would be organising a session which would be compulsory for every player and official to attend. The GFA was in the process of appointing an integrity officer and the announcement would be made very soon.
