MES Vasant Joshi face Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College in final on Monday

PANJIM: MES Vasant Joshi College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar, defeated  Government College of Arts Science and Commerce, Khandola, by 7 wickets in the semi-final to book final berth in the Goa University’s Inter-Collegiate Cricket Women’s Championship 2023-24 played at Goa University cricket ground, Taleigao Plateau, on Thursday.

The Government College of Arts Science and Commerce won the toss and elected to bat.

In the first innings, the Government College of Arts Science and Commerce scored 75 runs losing 6 wickets in 15 overs. Simran Naik 18 (21), Minakshi Agalikeri 10 (17) not out. Priya Gupta 2/05, Pooja Yadav 1/11.

In the second innings, MES Vasant Joshi College of Arts and Commerce scored 76 runs losing 3 wickets in 12.2 overs. Pooja Yadav 38 (37), Harshada Kadam 09 (12). Sanjana Palkar 2/14, Simran Naik 1/18.

Best performances by Pooja Yadav, 38 (37), 1/11 and Priya Gupta 2/05 of MES Vasant Joshi College of Arts and Commerce.

In the second semi-final, Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao, defeated Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi, by 102 runs.

Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre won the toss and elected to bat.

In the first innings, Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre

scored 173 runs for no loss in 15 overs. Mitali Gawander 83 (52) not out and Tanaya Naik 67(44) not out.

In their reply, Goa College of Engineering managed to score 71 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 15 overs. Riya Naik 18 (21), Ivneet Kaur 10 (23) not out. Tanaya Naik 4/10, Rida Shaikh 2/8.

Best performances by Tanaya Naik 67 (44)*, 4/10; Mitali Gawander 83 (52)* and Rida Shaikh 2/8, all students of Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre.

In the final to be played on Monday, MES Vasant Joshi College of Arts and Commerce, Zuarinagar, will battle it out against Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao, for the title at 9.30 am.
