MAPUSA: It was indeed disheartening to witness just a handful of spectators being present for the deciding Reliance Foundation Development U-21 League of Cluster D matches played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, at 8.15 am.

As the second session commenced around 9.30 am, the artificial turf was hot and the weather condition around the stadium was warm.

Johnson D’Souza, along with a couple of spectators from Duler vicinity, present for the match said that how the organisers are conducting such an important India U-21 league - wherein our future Indian players will be selected for the senior squad - play under such humid condition.

They asked, “Couldn’t this deciding match between Sudeva Delhi FC and Punjab FC be played in the evening or under floodlights.”

“With a little publicity in the print and electronic media, the league would have attracted more Goan football lovers to the league,” they said.

They urged the Reliance Foundation Development U-21 League organisers to conduct the final round taking into consideration the health factor of the youngsters and plan the matches accordingly.
