MELBOURNE: Tivim Tigers scored a solitary goal win over Nagao Xacuti in the Goa inter-village football tournament organised by the Goan Overseas Association of Victoria Inc (GOAV), at the Flemington Road Cricket Oval, in Parkville, Victoria, recently.
The winning goal was scored by Ethan.
A total of 10 teams participated, MKC Masters, Siolim Point Cook, Viva Vasco, Divar Newts, X Factor, Strikers FC, Panjim, and Porvorim.
In the semi-finals, Nagao Xacuti overcame Panjim, while Tivim Tigers defeated X Factor to reach the final. For the first time, two women’s teams and two veterans teams participated. The match officials were Yachika Garg and Shahim Pordeli. The prizes were presented to the winners by Directors of Physio Elements Nisha Monte Cruz Faleiro and Floyd Faleiro.
Former hockey national player, who represented Goa, Violet Fonn presented prizes to the women category winners. Also former president of GOAV Gerard Lobo presented the prizes to winners in the Masters category
Earlier, president of GOAV Floyd Cardoso welcomed the teams and the gathering. He also thanked the sponsors.
